The Restoration Project

In 2025 The Cage was acquired by paranormal influencer Amy’s Crypt, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Due to years of being unoccupied and lack of maintenance, The Cage was in desperate need of work to preserve its integrity for the future. Amy has formed The Cage of St Osyth Ltd to be the custodian of the home with a focus on restoration and preservation.

Mission

The core mission of The Cage St Osyth Ltd is multifaceted: to meticulously restore and preserve the historical integrity of this unique structure, ensuring its physical survival for generations to come. Simultaneously, there is an unwavering focus on honoring the history and legacy of The Cage, acknowledging its role as a town lockup and the immense suffering that occurred within its walls. Crucially, this preservation extends to a heartfelt dedication to remembering the women who died in the St Osyth Witch Trials, as well as the many more who suffered as a result.

Activities

This endeavor is more than just a renovation project; it is an act of remembrance, reclaiming of narrative, and saving a building of both cultural and historic significance. By undertaking careful restoration, Amy’s Crypt and The Cage St Osyth Ltd aim to breathe new life into a building that has long been associated with darkness and despair. Future plans include:

  • Damp repair
  • Wood rot repair
  • Window restoration
  • Floorboard restoration
  • Installing a functioning central heating system
  • Installing a functioning time-period inspired bathroom and kitchen
  • Furnish and decorate the home with time-period furnishings, fittings and fixtures
  • Creating spaces for educational exhibits that shed light on the history of St Osyth, the Witch Trials, folklore and paranormal reports surrounding the home, and history of imprisonment in England.

How can you help?

We are grateful for the interest shown in The Cage and the offers of support we have had to help in our endeavor to restore the property. However, as a private undertaking we do not accept any donations or offer of services. For the time being, all restoration efforts are being funded by Amy and her company – and for that we are endlessly grateful. So if you want to support the restoration project, please show your gratitude and support for Amy by giving her a follow and watching her content over on Amy’s Crypt.
